Below we have some 'quick start' guides for adding journals and journal articles. If you'd like more in-depth instructions the following guide provides screenshots as well as step-by-step instructions.

Adding a whole journal (print and electronic)

1. Find the journal on the library catalogue and click on the title.

2. Click on

3. Either Create and Add to List if you already have a list or Create and add it to a list later.

Adding a whole journal (electronic only)

If you wish to link to a journal that is available electronically but which isn't on the library catalogue follow these instructions.

1. From the library website click on Finding information in the list on the left hand side

2. Click on Resource lists online and then Tools for linking to electronic journal articles.

3. Click on OpenURL links to electronic journal titles (or click on the link)

4. Select Talis Aspire from the list, type in the journal title and then click Build URL.

5. Click on Test this link and then use the Add to my bookmarks button to bookmark the journal.

Adding a journal article (electronic)

1. Search for the article in Library Search or another library database.

2. Follow the link through to the article homepage. This is the page that includes the details of the article such as title, author etc. and the abstract.

3. Click on . Don't bookmark the PDF of the article as the bookmarklet won't be able to pick up the information it needs.

4. Check that the information on the bookmark screen is correct.

6. Either Create and Add to List if you already have a list or Create and add it to a list later.

Adding a journal article (print)

1. Find the journal on the library catalogue and click on the title.

2. Click on

3. Ensure the resource type is Journal

4. At the bottom of the screen choose Has part (chapter, article etc...) from the Add field drop-down list.

5. Change the resource type to Article and then add the title, author, volume, issue and date fields from the Add field drop-down list.

6. Either Create and Add to List if you already have a list or Create and add it to a list later.
