The main Kimberlin Library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, so you can study whenever it suits you. You can also use the Library’s online services 24 hours a day, wherever you have Internet access.
The specialist Law Library in Hugh Aston is generally open until 9pm, and the Learning Zones in Eric Wood and the Greenhouse until 10pm during term time.

Always carry your University student card.
You will need your DMU student card to access library and other university buildings, to borrow books and to photocopy in the library. You must produce it when requested to do so by a member of DMU staff. Your DMU student card is for your personal use only, and must never be used by anyone else.
In response to student feedback, Library and Learning Services offer a variety of study areas. For these to be effective all students are asked to abide by the regulations on each of the library floors.
Group study areas
These provide spaces for conversations amongst groups of students. These areas can be found in all of our library spaces, and include the Learning Zones. There are also bookable syndicate rooms for group-working in the Kimberlin and Law libraries.
Quiet study areas
These areas allow for an occasional brief conversation at a low volume with the person sitting next to you, however they are generally quiet. Quiet study areas can be found in all of our Library spaces.
Silent study areas
In these areas no talking is allowed. On the Second Floor of the Kimberlin Library you will find two dedicated silent study rooms and also one silent study IT room.
Location of Library spaces
Here is a link to a map of our campus, showing all of all our libraries and study areas. The numbers refer to the location on the map. Learning Zones and The Greenhouse (32) cater for group working and we have bookable Syndicate Rooms in the Kimberlin (21) and Hugh Aston Law libraries (18). Quiet Study is permitted in the Eric Wood (8) and Greenhouse Learning Zones (32).There are dedicated Silent Study rooms on the Second Floor of the Kimberlin Library (21).
Eating and drinking
Throughout Kimberlin Library, the Eric Wood Learning Zone and The Greenhouse you may consume hot and cold drinks, and cold food such as sandwiches. Hot and takeaway-style food are not allowed in any of the Library and Learning spaces. In the Law Library, no food of any kind is permitted, and only bottled water may be consumed.
The Library Café sells hot and cold drinks, snacks and sandwiches, and can be found on the ground floor.
