CLaSS collaborates with Research Services and the Doctoral College to organise a range of opportunities for social writing at DMU.

Every Monday, 12:30-2pm: Shut Up and Write 

An open invitation for staff and researchers to grab a cuppa and write with colleagues in the congenial surrounds of the Innovation Centre’s Co-Working Café. Note - this is not a facilitated event, more a fixed time and place for social writing for all who wish to participate.

Early December 2018: Writing for Publication - The Real Story

Annual lunchtime seminar discussion with experienced writers from across DMU. Previous guest speakers include Prof. Nicky Hudson, Prof. Robert Colls, Prof. Peter Ford, and Prof. Rob Canton. This year we have:

Early February 2019: Writing Beyond Word(s)

Lunchtime seminar exploring writing approaches and environments beyond familiar word processing software.

May 2019: Plan your Summer of Writing

A short lunchtime seminar/workshop on time management and goal setting for productive writing over the summer months.

June 2019: Trinity One Day Writing Retreat

A free, intensive day of writing for DMU staff in the beautiful tranquility of the Trinity Chapel. Light refreshments provided. 

June-August 2019: Writing Day Trips  / Binge Weekend

Pack away your everyday cares and transport your mind to a magical far away place– your writing focus zone! The writing day trips provide a day of focused writing in a supportive environment, while the Binge Weekend provides two consecutive days of writing (Friday and Saturday). Indulge yourself!

September 2019: Mission Impossible: Writing During Term Time

Lunchtime workshop on how to keep momentum going during the busy teaching period.


All of these sessions will be publicised more widely closer to the time. Bookings will be through the MyDevelopment Hub.
